Dr. Annamaria Szakonyi is an assistant professor and technology expert whose work focuses on using technology and digital innovation to address complex social challenges, including human trafficking and the exploitation of women and children. With more than 15 years of experience across Fortune 25 companies, non-profits, and higher education in technical and leadership roles, she brings a unique blend of technical expertise, policy insight, and real-world impact.
Dr. Szakonyi has partnered with and advised organizations from early-stage start-ups to UN-level initiatives spanning cybersecurity, data science, and the application of emerging technologies to counter exploitation and strengthen community resilience. Her work has been published by the UN, IEEE, Springer, and other peer-reviewed outlets. She has received numerous academic and international honors, including awards for her scholarship, leadership and service, and fellowships from the Republic of Hungary, the European Union, and the French Republic.
Beyond her research, she is deeply committed to developing the next generation of technology leaders. She mentors students and professionals alike and actively advocates for women and other underrepresented groups in the tech sector.
